RF Engineering Consultant

Celebrating over 30 years of service to the RF and microwave engineering and wireless and analog design and development community

Welcome to the RF Engineering Consultant Home Page

The president, Ed Troy, has over 38 years of experience in the areas of RF, microwave, and analog circuit design, development, simulation, prototyping, and troubleshooting circuits and systems operating at frequencies ranging from DC to 26.5 GHz. Aerospace Consulting LLC has been providing engineering consulting services to companies and government agencies for over 30 years. The type of work has covered just about all areas of electronics design, development, simulation, circuit board layout and prototype development. While many jobs are large and complex, some clients just need help getting a troublesome RF, microwave, or wireless circuit or system working properly. Others need help improving the range of low-power FCC part 15 devices, such as keyfob-like applications in the 300 to 450 MHz range, or low power systems in the 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz range. Often, the solution to a client's problem can be as simple as a better antenna, a low-noise amplifier, or a better receiver, all of which are typical of the work performed by Aerospace Consulting.

Whether you need a new circuit or system designed, or you just need a day or two of consulting or simulation to verify your new wireless, rf, microwave, or analog design or proposal, you have come to the right place. Don't let the company name, Aerospace Consulting, fool you! Yes, early customers were in the aerospace industry, and some still are, but most of our clients are companies or inventors that are trying to put RF, wireless, analog, or microwave circuits to work in new products, but they are not experienced with RF design, microwave design, or high speed analog design. These fields require extensive experience as well as the proper software tools for simulation, and the proper test equipment for testing and troubleshooting of the new products. If you don't have the personnel, software, and facilities, you will be in for a major learning experience, high expenses, and excessive project delays. To save yourself the expense and frustration, call an experienced RF engineering consultanting firm like Aerospace Consulting. You'll be glad you did. Also, if you are a company that has the necessary personnel and facilities to perform RF, microwave, wireless or high speed analog design and development, but your people are simply too busy to take on new work, Aerospace Consulting can be of service. Sure, you could probably hire a contractor, but that requires a large amount of work, and it can take a long time to get a qualified RF engineer. Meanwhile, your project is languishing, and your time to market is extended. Plus, once that contractor is hired, you have to provide him or her with software, test equipment, and lab space. Those items cannot then be used by your other employees. Again, by employing the RF engineering consulting services of Aerospace Consulting, you get your job done quickly and at a reasonable cost, without having to internally time-share your software, test equipment, and lab space.

Do you have an idea for an electronic or wireless product, but you don't have the experience or facilities to design and develop such a product? Or, do you simply need someone who has almost 4 decades of experience in the rf, microwave, wireless, and analog circuit and system design and development field to advise you as to whether your idea is even possible or practical, from either a technical or FCC point of view? Are you a manager in a company that regularly does RF, microwave, wireless, and other electronic design and development work but who needs some extra help for a period ranging from a few hours to many months? Are your facilities simply overloaded, and you don't want to make a huge investment in renting or purchasing equipment or software to cover a temporary period when you have more work than you can handle? If you answered yes to any of these questions, or similar questions that only you could know, pick up the phone and give me a call. Or, better still, send me an e-mail here. You'll be glad you did.

Do you have amplifiers that oscillate, or oscillator's that don't? Do you have problems with synthesizers or PLL's that don't work properly? Do you have devices that don't pass FCC testing, and you need to know what to do to get them to pass? Do you need help writing a proposal, either from the writing side or the system simulation and architecture side? Do you have a SAW resonator (keyfob) product that you need help with? These are just a sampling of the services that I have offered clients over the years, or performed for my own business purposes.

I can provide assistance at your location, but usually the work is performed at my facility. Through the convenience of video conferencing, you can see simulations and testing as if I was in your facility, but without tying up your facilities. My facility includes:
